Problem using IDirect3DTexture9

We are trying to use the IDirect3DTexture9 function in our game and everything loads up fine in the window but when we set up the input there are MAJOR delays and the frame rate drops to about 1 fps. When we use the IDirect3DSurface9 it works fine, input is instant and no probs at all. Has anyone else ran into this type of issue with delays, frame rate drop etc.. ??

Can we see your code? If you are loading up textures every frame, then that's more than likely the source of your FPS drop. :)

Make sure you are releasing everything properly associated with the texture too. It seems like maybe it is blocking. Every frame is also bad as HopeDagger mentioned.
