Sprite acceleration in MIDP 2.0

In the official MIDP 2.0 documenatation you can read this about the javax.microedition.game.Sprite class:

Sprites can be implemented using whatever techniques a manufacturers wishes to use (e.g hardware acceleration may be used for all Sprites, for certain sizes of Sprites, or not at all).
Does anyone know anything about more this? Is there some unofficial standard like 8x8, 16x16, 32x32 to stick to? I havn't been able to find anything out form either SonyEricssons or Nokias developer site. (edit: grammer)
