2D grid in DirectX

How would I go about creating a 2D grid that covers my entire window? Would it be easiest to use DrawPrimitive and use a linelist? I'd like to be able to add hashmarks, too.

I would simply go with a set of transformed lines.
With Transformed I mean that they are already in screen space and so you will define vertices that are in screen space.
