Anyone know how Arena Net architected Guild Wars?

I've seen some discussions in the past about Arena Net's unique approach to their network architecture to prevent cheating. Anyone have any detail on this? Is everything basically server side? How do they fight lag if that's the case? Any other info floating around out there?
