how to attach a weapon on mdl model

i'm writing a fps game, i decide to use halflife mdl model, but i do not know how to attach a weapon a mdl model, who can help me?

I don't know about the MDL-type model or file format, but the usual way is by attaching a weapon (mesh) to a bone of the character's skeleton. Usually extra bones are added for this and named specificaly so you can retrieve them from the skeleton easily. The weapon updates its world position and rotation by inspecting the bone's position and rotation.
