Where can I find more info on gamma fading, and some code. I already read the gamma control article on gd.net, and I have written my own fader, but I want to improve on it. Especially interested in getting a nice, smooth fade to black, and then back again.

You''re talking about the IDirectGammeControl interface that''s included with DirectX?
The problem with that interface is that if there isn''t any HAL support for Gamma Ramp, it just won''t work.
You should try using MMX Alpha Blending or, even better, D3D Alpha Blending.
