rectangle vs. rectangle collisions

HOw can I do a rectangle (width not necessarily same as height) vs. rectangle collision in 2D? NOt axis aligned, so these bounding rectangles can have any orientation. Is there a cheap, quick and dirty way of doing this?

No... not an easy solution :-(

Most people use circles in 2D anyway, they''re much faster than rectangles.
