GameDev.net and CRC Press have teamed up to bring a free ebook of content curated from top titles published by CRC Press. The freebook, Practices of Game Design & Indie Game Marketing, includes chapters from The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses, A Practical Guide to Indie Game Marketing, and An Architectural Approach to Level Design. The GameDev.net FreeBook is relevant to game designers, developers, and those interested in learning more about the challenges in game development. We know game development can be a tough discipline and business, so we picked several chapters from CRC Press titles that we thought would be of interest to you, the GameDev.net audience, in your journey to design, develop, and market your next game. The free ebook is available through CRC Press by clicking here. The Curated Books The Art of Game Design: A Book of Lenses, Second Edition, by Jesse Schell Presents 100+ sets of questions, or different lenses, for viewing a game’s design, encompassing diverse fields such as psychology, architecture, music, film, software engineering, theme park design, mathematics, anthropology, and more. Written by one of the world's top game designers, this book describes the deepest and most fundamental principles of game design, demonstrating how tactics used in board, card, and athletic games also work in video games. It provides practical instruction on creating world-class games that will be played again and again. View it here. A Practical Guide to Indie Game Marketing, by Joel Dreskin Marketing is an essential but too frequently overlooked or minimized component of the release plan for indie games. A Practical Guide to Indie Game Marketing provides you with the tools needed to build visibility and sell your indie games. With special focus on those developers with small budgets and limited staff and resources, this book is packed with tangible recommendations and techniques that you can put to use immediately. As a seasoned professional of the indie game arena, author Joel Dreskin gives you insight into practical, real-world experiences of marketing numerous successful games and also provides stories of the failures. View it here. An Architectural Approach to Level Design This is one of the first books to integrate architectural and spatial design theory with the field of level design. The book presents architectural techniques and theories for level designers to use in their own work. It connects architecture and level design in different ways that address the practical elements of how designers construct space and the experiential elements of how and why humans interact with this space. Throughout the text, readers learn skills for spatial layout, evoking emotion through gamespaces, and creating better levels through architectural theory. View it here. Yet another game developing webpage...

Well, I have spawned yet another small game developing site. It is pretty new...so don't expect much. So, if you would like to help to make this somewhat better than a flop. So, without further ado...here is the url. Enjoy...and give any feedback you like (you can even start a small...or not so small...flame war if you like, just let me know what you think). -MSkinn99 What's done is done (Until you hit Undo) Two wrongs don't make a right; but 3 lefts do. You'd be paranoid too if everyone was out to get you.

The shadows article is nice.. You probably should change the href of the ''Home'' link to index.html instead of index.htm, though. Not very much content to comment yet, but it looks nice so far.

Thanx for the feedback Teharez. Now, what about the other 70 or 80 of you who have been to my site, where is the feedback from you? Let me know what you want or think my site should have, that way, there will be more content to comment on. So, tell me what you want/think/need/hate/etc. Thank you for your support/flames.

If I were you, I''d gather alot of content before announcing your site. If you give your viewers alot of info candy from the get-go, along with current updates and useful tutorials/columns, you''ll be prone to get more feedback. The article is good, but not alot to give feedback on. I added it to my favorites, and will check often for updates. It is definitely a good start.

Thank you Dashworth and anon.

The point I am making with this posting is to ask what people want to see. What info do you want info on, what would you like a tutorial for...things like that. As for updates, the page now has a forum, courtesy of cjb.net, and all of the lins have been fixed. So, thank you in advance for your feedback and, hopefully, help.

I don''t know if someone is intressted in my programming stuff, cause noone gives me feedback (exept chock), but it doesn''t matter. U must do such things for your own sake - not for honor or glory . Write more articles and the people will come. Of course i was on your site too - there is too few contend right now. Lets see what future brings.
