I'm looking to create a program in DirectX that has multiple views. One view will display visual information and the other will display all the text information in relation to the first view. Is it possible to set up two views within the same window in directx, rendering one on the left and the other on the right? Or is the only (easiest) way to simply create two seperate windows and allign them next too each other? Cheers.

Cheers for that, it does seem relatively simple.

I'm still not sure about which way to implement my program however. Can anyone give me some pros and cons for using 2 viewports in the 1 window, and simply using 2 windows? I can imagine there could be some refresh issues if I were using two windows.

Definitely. Your one window would have focus, so the other one would never be able to Present(). The viewport way is much easier - you don't have to deal with creating multiple windows and there are no issues with focusing.
