I was basically wondering if ANYONE out there knows how to code it so that you can import skeletal animations from a milkshape 3d file. I "think" brett ( who made the ms3d loading tutorial with nehe ) is going to make one on skeletal animations, but I''m guessing that''s not really priority to him, so I''m asking anyone else that might know. I hope someone can help me out with this. Thanx in advance. ~Cobra~

Hi

Work on that very thing, i will be starting on Monday night, hopefully i can have something running quite soon after that.

Are you working on skeletal code or are you interested in a tutorial ?? If you are coding you could post any info and or questions to this topic and i will do the same. Hopefully there will be soon working code on this topic some time next week!!

anyway good luck with the coding!

PS I will be starting afresh, and will not be using the Tutorial for file loading. I don’t like binary files when a text version is available. It looks like the loading will be a piece of cake. But rendering the skeletal animations will need some math. It ain't fun if it is not a challenge!!

Hi guys,

Sorry about the delay on skeletal animation. The only thing holding me up is this stupid bug relating to floating point inaccuracy which occasionally breaks the animation (it works fine under debug mode).

If anyone would like to help out, grab a copy of PortaLib3D, which includes the skeletal animation code, and see if you can fix it - it seems to be the Matrix multiplication at fault.

Even if you can''t help, this should be a god start for using the animations, just no explanatory part yet

Unfortunately, it is low priority at the moment. I have a real job to do, a house move, and a server move for my homepage. But, unfortunately my girlfriend has gone away for a couple of weeks, so I guess I''ll have more time to work on it now. Lucky for you, unlucky for me!

Cheers!
