Virtual Pimp - A Real Time Pimp Simulator

This post is an desciption of the game Virtual Pimp Virtual Pimp A Real Time Pimp Simulator Overview In Virtual Pimp you control a virtual pimp in his (or her) quest to build a vast underground pimp network of whores, crack dens, corrupt city officials, and much more as you fight to expand your territory against other virtual pimps. General Gameplay You begin a game of Virtual Pimp by selecting and customizing your pimp. As the game starts your character is placed on a city street corner with set of attributes and a given amount of cash left over from your customization purchases. At first, your vision of the city map limited to your pimp’s line of sight. You pimp can walk around the city streets and interact with various computer controlled game characters you stand close to. If you click on a computer controlled game character you can view its attributes and if it is a female character you can attempt to impress her and convert her into your first whore. Once you have converted your first whore, you will gain control of the street corner she is on and your vision of the city grid expands. Your whore will interact with the male computer controlled characters that walk past her corner, and she will begin producing money for you. Money allows your pimp to purchase inventory items as well as increase your ability to impress more whores. It is important to note that in the game you can only directly control your pimp character. All other characters in the game will be controlled by the computer or a rival pimp human pimp in a multiplayer game. You can only issue general commands to game characters under your influence by standing near them, or through use of a communications device such as a cell phone or pager. Selectable Pimp Types Guido Greasy Italian French Bordello Madam Gold Plated Nigger Crack Smoking Cracker Oriental Massage Madam Crack Crack plays an important role in the game. It provides an additional method of income, and brings in more johns and potential whores into your territory. When the game begins your pimp has no crack production facilities, but you can purchase crack from certain characters you meet of the streets. You can smoke the crack, give it to your whores, sell it near schools, offer it to gang bangers, and resell it plus many more uses you can discover. The Man As you build your underground network, it is inevitable that you will become more visible to The Man. The Man will attempt keep you down by chasing off johns, arresting your whores, and potentially your pimp character as well. For this reason it is important to gain influence over The Man early on in the game. How influence is gained over The Man is something you need to discover.

There is a limited number of characters that traffic any particular street corner and initially it takes money to impress a female into being a whore.

As you expand your territory you will have more street corners to pimp your whores on, and crack can be used to better influence and impress whores, but you have to be careful the of creating crack whores. Crack whores become ugly very fast and can rapidly convert your other whores to crack whores.

In the event you detect that you have a crack whore, its best to move your pimp to her corner and use the choke bitch command.

I can already imagine that this game's entire advertising gimmick will consist of a "no publicity is bad publicity" policy. Seeing as how every Feminist/Women's Rights group, in addition to the ACLU and others (probably even Jesse Jackson who knows!?) will be jumping on it as final, concrete evidence that society has debased itself at long last to the lowest forms possible.

I may tend to agree with them from a metaphysical stance, perhaps even a philosophical one, but I'll still laugh my ass off. Heck, I'd even buy a game like this just for the sake of walking around "bitch slappin" people. Repressed agression, here I come!

Seriously though, if you want to make a game like this, then more power and luck to you, but if it ever catches on or gets into the media, prepare for a firestorm.

Seems like an okay concept. One problem is that, compared to other strategy games, there's little unit development and/or building...with the result that players have no viable strategy except simple minmaxing. An array of upgrades for whores might help with that.

Likewise, as a multiplayer game, this has the problem of there not being enough interaction with other players. Players are, to some extent, competing for the same scarce resources, but beyond that their strategies don't really intersect. You might want to consider expanding the role of gangs and gang warfare.

Eh. There have already been plenty of vice-based games, starting with Drug Wars (ah, the memories) and continuing through GTA and similar. I can't really see this game succeeding stylistically unless it is seriously tongue-in-cheek, though, so the former is probably a better example to model the game's image after.

I am glad you noticed the controversional nature of Virtual Pimp. One of its goals to be a game with absolutely no redeeming social values. To reinforce every negative racial and sexual stereotype, and to drive the people that believe we should "protect the children" from smut apeshit.

edit ... Oh, and the game will be billed as an actually real life depiction of being a pimp with in-game tips related to how to be a successful pimp.

Careful there. That particular goal has already been done to death. There's a graveyard somewhere filled with soi-disant "counterculture" games which nobody enjoyed because the design emphasized the counterculture over the fun.

A principle tenet of Virtual Pimp is deep gameplay. It is designed around a real time multiplyer system where you can match wits against other humans.

Strategic moves are open ended and include using crack to influence school children into gang banging the other player's whores or having a whore service the mayor as he smokes crack while the video camera is in your inventory.

Might be as controversial as Sid Meier's ill fated SIM Concentration Camp.


So pimps really go for the crack though ???
You would think that it would debilitate their 'Hos' too fast.

Dont forget to have the 'jar of lye' item to be used on 'Hos' who hold out on their pimp.... (as seen in one of the Dirty Harry movies...)

Yes, crack can be detrimental to your whores, and they do hold out on you. An item like 'jar of lye' would be a step up from the choke bitch command, possibly creating more control over your whores (they will be less likely to hold out).

Also, a city corner that you abuse with too much crack and whores runs the risk of turning into either a crack den or city slum which has fewer johns and brings you more pressure from The Man.

There is so much you haven't thought about man:

-> The Car. Every pimp needs a car. Without his car, the pimp is nothing. The car is his status symbol, it shows who he is and it is his most important weapon in impressing the ladies. Therefore, make sure there are plenty of upgrades for your car. Watch MTV's Gonna Pimp Your Ride with Xzibit for ideas.

-> The Clothes. Whats a pimp without an afro? Pimps need to spend serious money getting their rocks and suits right. Fur coats, hats ... it's almost as essential as the rims.

-> Crack? You're whack! Crack is an infection in the hood, pimps avoid it like vampires avoid daylight. Cocaine on the other hand, that's a whole different thing.

-> Violence. The way your game is lookin' right now, it seems like it doesn't have enough violence. The type of audience this game is geared toward is not going to settle for a bitch choke as sufficient violence. Nah, you're going to have to graphically depict the explicit torture of snitchers, the gang bang firefights and drivebys and whenever you shoot a police make sure you go into slow motion. So you can really see his pig skull fly into pieces.

I've had a similar idea for a Turn-Based "Pimp Tycoon" type of game for Mobile Phones.

Morally questionable, but with "Games" such as "Drug Addict in a Pocket" on the Market, ...

Nice joke design. Sounds like the kind of stuff my friends and I used to come up with. I have a game called "walking man" where you get to control all the main parts of the body as he walks down a grey sidewalk with repeating city backgrounds for hours on end. Imagine! He gets to jump over the cracks, bend down to interact with the bugs he finds, pick up trash, put it away if he wants (in which case he's energized and can run for a time), etc. It's the ultimate in reality simulation and environmental awareness, and never gets boring.

You hit it on the head MadVillain!

If my previous post came off as a bit of a nay-sayer, that was my fault. I would seriously put some game hours into playing this game.

While we're on the topic of depicting violence, perhaps we can schedule drive-bys and have the camera go into a FPS mode where the pimp sitting in the back seat fires his AK/Uzi into a house full of unsuspecting whores, gangbangers, enemy pimps and to boot, innocent women and children, cause no drive-by's complete without innocent by-standers.

You also had a good point with the cocaine thing, but crack is essential because it gets your whores and clients high without costing you a lot out of pocket, but personal preference would be just as you said.

Maybe to boot, you could staple drug wars right on top of this to complete the whole deal, why just pimp out your whores when you can do that AND run a succesful drug-ring? I think it was touched upon with the whole, crack to schoolkids idea, but it needs to be more, we need more depravity, more immorality, before this PC world oppresses us into acts of open rebellion!

As far as cars go, I'm most certainly thinking that HUGE, convertible cadillacs would be an absolute must, painted bright colors, and don't forget the datons(sp?, spoke wheels with little razor looking things inside), plush/velvet interior and to top it off, pink fuzzy dice in the window.

A whole extra aspect of gameplay could be just driving around town in your pimp mobile, which, when you honk the horn goes, "Move bitch! Get out the way!". Kinda like what Mafia did with their free-play driving.

Anyway, those are my ideas and my two cents, something to chew on,

No I didn't forget these parts, I just didn't go into every detail of the game. Here is a rundown:

Pimp Car: Allows you to move through the city grid faster. Provides you with increased movement speed, better chance to convert women to whores, and gives you extra armor. Penalty: Cost and higher visibility to The Man

Pimp Hat: Increases whore revenue and again increases chance to convert whores. Penalty: Higher visibility to The Man

About the violence and crack. Whores have stats such as beauty and crack in bloodstream. After a whore's crack in bloodstream stat reaches a certain point, she begins to have a chance to become a crack whore. The point at which this chance starts is lowered with promixity to other crack whores. Crack whores make MUCH less money and decrease their beauty score.

The choke bitch command gives you money and reduces a whore's crack in bloodstream stat. When you select choke bitch, it brings up a hud where you pound alternating buttons as fast as possible while the hud dislays a close up of the choking action and the whores vital meters.

You can kill a whore if you want, but that again raises your visibiity to The Man.

As a balance factor, generally speaking, the better you are doing in the game the more The Man will harrass you. This gives players that are behind the chance to comeback.

Of course there is all sorts of other violence in the game, and it is open ended, so if you want you can just go on carnage rampages, though unless your rampages are mission related, you really wont see any bonuses.

With regard to play style, each pimp type you select at the begining of the game has a different play style. For example, the French Bordello Madam can more easily convert women, and with very little money, but she doesn't receive the same type of crack bonuses as say the Gold Plated Nigger pimp. Also, her whores tend to go inside buildings and are not prone to getting picked up on the street by The Man.

The game is meant to be a top down type display like an typical RTS game. There would be character and item portaits that display in the game HUD, as well as a lot of popup HUDs decorated with pimped out gfx and in cases showing a closeup high polygon render of some game related action.

There would definitely be a whole lot of styles and voices and sound effects that set the mood based of pimp type, city tileset, and character/item selection.

The style could best be described as being from the a viewpoint of an ultra racist/sexist 14 year old boy lampooning everything, but at the same time presenting itself as if it were absolutely serious. Think of Eric Cartman with the volume turned way up, and a stream of obscenities and racial/sexist epitaphs.

Gameplay is centered around building your pimp empire versus other pimps scattered throughout the city, though it can also be open ended. You could for example forego game missions and building a respectable stable, to instead cruise around the city and interact the encironment, NPC characters, or other pimps.

Of course the disadvantage to this is that if your are busted by The Man or get a capin your ass, you will have little or no assets to get bailed out. It may be possible though to travel around the city making contacts and exploring for the best locations to setup shop, acquire critical inventory items, or influence the right NPCs early on.

Hrm...

I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet, but there was a game called "Virtual Pimp" written in the mid to late 90's in both QBasic, and for TI graphing calculators.
