well after working on several unsucsessfull projects Ive decided to try my luck with a mmorpg but what this mmorpg is going to be different then other games is that the players can make in game history and start there small towns and cities challange kings and controll armys so its basicly a virtual world. My idea is to not have a level system but to have a skill system. example so you want to be a swordsman you have a swordsmanship skill but thats not all you need to also learn how to parry and heal your self lets say that you have a maximum 700 skill point so you can get to a 100 with 7 skills. Thats not all in most games who ever has better skills usualy wins well I was thinking a varaitey of items more then any game and a Crafter class as a backbone of the whole game so a very skilled blacksmith can make special swords with bonuses on them. the game will have no npc's what so ever so lets say you are a warrior and you need a sword you dont go to the weaponsmith you go to a shop of another player. Players will also be able to own castles and houses and guilds will play a major role in pvp.

My guess: You're going to crash and burn before you accomplish anything of note, because you lack the self-discipline to spend your time on the proper things to realize your goals. You probably lack the self-discipline required for much smaller projects, too, but in this case it is especially cut and dried.

You said you just came from several unsuccessful projects; I am reading that as not finished, and you want to jump into what is possibly the hardest type of game to design, program, and extremely large dependence on graphic and sound resources. The system you describe about the skill system and maxing skill points at 700 along with blacksmiths that can craft special weapons sounds like a chapter straight out of Ultima Online.

I don't know what your programing skill is or any of your other experience but from what you have disclosed, I would have to say jumping into an MMORPG would be a total disaster. I am not saying this to be mean or critical of you or you skills but from what you have said, I believe the possibility of your success in this to be zero.

Start small, have some success and build on it. Good luck.
