Hello ya'all! I'm creating a game database, and blog/personal page system. I've started out with this relatively simple design, and system. I've completed some of the basic features, such as writing blogs, submitting downloads and uploading files. You can also customize your profile/personal page as well. I hope to allow you to customize the css file that controls your page, but right now you can only choose designs that exist in the system. I'm always adding new features or improving existing ones, so please visit often! I hope you'll enjoy http://www.gamingdl.com ! Comments and suggestions please post here. Also feel free to submit your own games along with a link in the description to your website on my site. I need to create a TOS, but you should already know that submitting illegal material such as others' games that you don't have permission to distribute is illegal. KimmoA, go make something of your own instead of harassing others' hard work. If you are compelled to criticize, at least make it constructive.

Your site looks and behaves very well, for the most part. I would love to see it grow. You've done a great job with it; I've sent you a PM with suggestions.

1) What makes you think I don't do anything myself?
2) It's not hard work when he has that many errors. More like throwing up random noise via FTP.

KimmoA, if you are going to criticize, at least tell what you are criticizing...i.e. the site does not pass WC3 validation rather than stupidly rave about "errors" on the page.

Oh and KimmoA, GameDev.net, 140 errors, so get busy complaning about that as well...

Uhm... some errors have to be there in order to achieve the look I want. Its not 100 percent complete either, but I plan on working on that after I finish the features I have planned. Almost all php-js based sites have plenty of errors, my goal is just to have everything working on popular browsers. BTW gamedev.net has 140, and places like yahoo.com, they have 245 errors. So I don't even really worry about meeting those standards, except for major ones that show up.

Well reading through your profile, I see your last 4 posts criticizing websites, and then a post where you bitch and moan because some guy feels like making a comic in paint. If you put as much energy into your accomplishments as you did into your own complaints you'd most definitely be the richest man in the world by now.

The site works, therefore I think I did it right. If it works, its right, and it works speedy and looks nice. No one cares about the WC3 Standards inless it effects their view or them being able to use the site properly.

Your email address has to have a .net, .com, or whatever domain extension your email host has, and a @ in it.

Retype your email and try again.

My suggestions would be to:

* Increase Contrast
* Not require login for comments
* When you hover over links at the top, the size changes because of the border. It would be better to have the same size so the layout doesn't keep shifting.
* Work on validation

Hello,

looks good to me, but there are a few things that you should change to make the site more available and streamlined.

- Change main text color to black, since it's very hard to read otherwise.

- Consider making the text a bit bigger so that people with bad eye sight can read it.

- If you want the page to be a community you have to have the login module on a more central part of the page. Also make a special link in the menu called "Sign up now" or something so that it's easier to start new accounts.

- Consider what your main focus on the site should be, I have a hard time finding out what the core of the site really is about, is it downloads? Shouldn't the downloads be on the front page in that case? Or is it the blog? The music? Events? Identify where the meat is and focus on that first and add the other features later when you have built a solid visitors base.

- Maybe more colors except for different variants of grey, I mean games are suppose to be fun and the site should reflect that somehow.

Good luck on your site!!!

The site looks nice. I agree with the others when it comes to the contrast though, the text should be quite a bit darker.

For the validation thing: look into CSS, I think one should always try to minimize the amount of validation errors. However, in some cases that's not possible. I haven't really closely looked at the source, so I think I can't say anything about this one.

Yeah, I've tried my best. But it really looks like theres no way right now to stop the errors without causing other issues. I do plan on adding darker text and improving the site according to most of all the suggestions mentioned.

The thing about the errors is that you aren't using a doctype declaration and you seem not to be using modern html. There are many deprecated attributes (things like bgcolor and width) that would be put into CSS for a modern design. As of now, it looks like a lot of work to fix all the errors, so it might not be worth it.

The forums are almost complete. They should be uploaded from the test server at least the end of this weekend. Check back often, we also need some games submitted! Submit any games you've made , no matter how small!
