I just want to play around with a simple 3d modeler like TrueSpace. Any recommendations for me. I''d like to use it for rendering images which I then want to use in my programs. thx.

You mention TrueSpace, is there a reason you don''t want to use TrueSpace?
Sorry, but I fogot to mention that it should be freeware. And I think TrueSpace isn''t for free at all, is it?
BLENDER !!!!!!
It''s free...but not that easy (because of the user interface that looks difficult but after some tutorials you will be amazed of this proggy)
For a full featured 3D modeller/animator try Blender.

www.blender.nl

Also, check out Anim8or. Its native file format is text based so you can easily convert it to your own format.

Sometime ago I d/l''ed TrueSpace v1.0...
I think it has been released for free.
But I''m more used to blender.

In addition to Blender I''d try Strata 3D. I have links to some free tools on my site.
