Hello everyone, I'm have a question on what to use when it comes to a audio recording software. I don´t really want to record audio like protools or cubase or anything like that. I just want to playback a wav or an mp3 and have the audio wave drawn on the screen. Now I think I have to design the gui for the wav to be drawn but the real question is what tool should I use for doing that. Now, for the playback I was wondering how to start. Should I use directsound or another library is better for this type of application. What should I use? Thanks

wxWidgets might have a sound wave display associated with it. Either that or Java will prolly have an audio editing library available somewhere.

Google knows more than i though.

FMOD Ex makes managing sound (and playing it back, recording, processing) extremely easy.
I'd personally use WinForms (C#/.NET) for the GUI with this sort of project.
