copy surface to texture with alphablending?

Hi! I'm wondering if it's possible to copy a section from a surface to a texture using TextureUpdate(), and does it alphablend if alpha channel is available? My goal is to paste a image with alpha channel onto a background texture.

You'll have to render the texture to a render target and perform the blending yourself. There is no one method that will blend it all for you.

As far as the function you mentioned, do you mean IDirect3DDevice9::UpdateTexture? This function is just meant to copy textures from system memory to video memory. It has no capabilities to blend anything.
