The Right Book?
Im an "absolute" beginner when it comes to anything other than Python. I understand most essentials for programming but not all. I want to find a book that will get me deep enough into Programming that i can stand on my own two feet. I know that 1 book probably wont be enough.I think that i should get into C++ but dont know the right book.So please help me out.
For a beginner, one C++ should suffice. It would only cover C++ (no graphics, no input other than commandlines, no AI, no gamelogic, you get the point), but it would be enough to get a good grasp on C++. Later on, you'd want to buy a book on DirectX or OpenGL and on various other specific topics.
As for recommendations, I haven't read any really good C++ books. I got C++ for Dummies(I know, I'm ashamed...). It taught me C++, but was merely alright. It didn't cover any of the Standard Library, which was bad. I'd give it a 2.5/5 stars.
The book you get should definately cover the Stadard Library. Make sure it has things such as std::vector and std::list in it.
Happy coding!

To be honest, you really don't need a book to teach you the basics of a language. You can learn everything from basic syntax to advanced commands purely from online tutorials. I'd recommened visiting programmingtutorials.com, as they have a long list of links to tutorials on pretty much any language you would want to learn. After you've mastered the basics, choose what API you want to learn, and look for a book on that.
EDIT: Betaten to it :).

Thanks for the website. But ive been looking at some code for C++ and it looks EXTREMELY difficult so do you think that going through tutorials on C++ would help me to understand that code?
Thinking in C++ is pretty good and it is free for download.
