OpenGL yet another model format question

Hi, I have a toon-like face model in maya with keyframed simple animations like smiling, closing eyelids, talking etc. What I would like to do is to export this model together with its animations to opengl. I easily can export the model in .obj format but obviously it's no good for animation. Can anyone recommend a suitable format for this purpose? For example, can .md2 be used (maybe with some modification) for this purpose?

In my opinion, best way-> writing your own model format :D. okay, it's hard but, you're on your own with it :). Anyway, .x and .md2 or .md3 are just fine.
