Hey everyone, I have a quick question about RTS games. Do they usually have separate weapon classes for units, even when those are not interchangeable/customizable? For example, if there's an air unit that shoots missiles, is there usually a Missile class (at least for making the missile animation)? My sense of things tells me that there would be, but I could be wrong. Thanks, Rob

I made it so that each weapon is a part of my particle system, i.e a rocket was no different from a rain splash and so on.

That's feasible for a 3D graphics system, of course, but what about 2D?

Thanks for your response. :)

A well-designed system will have them all deriving from the same base class(es) but it is likely that at least some types will need more specialisation in derived classes.
