If I take a point sitting in world space, and do a vector transform on that point by the Camera's Matrix... will that point now think the origin is the camera's position? thanks in advance

if you transform a point by the camera´s matrix, the point will be transformed into camera space, where the camera is at the origin. So, yes, that point will "think" that the origin is the camera´s position.
