Hello! Is there a way to display a bitmap at a different size than what it was made at? For example showing a 16x16 bitmap at 32x32. Would I have to bring in OpenGL to do things like this?

If you have no filtering, it is pretty easy to do yourself. Create a new surface and copy over the pixels double-sized.

Otherwise, look into SDL_gfx

You could use SDL_gfx for places where you already know the size ahead of time. Then resize and use the new graphics (i've done that when i wanted to switch between different size tiles). However, you you want on-the-fly rotation and scaling (and blending and ...), seriously consider using the SDL+OpenGL combo.
