multitexturing alpha question

Suppose I want to combine two tex's. Say I want an alpha value of 0.2 on the destination tex and to combine using some func of the alpha value. How do I set the alpha value for the tex's ? The easiest way I can think of is when reading in the rgb channels of each pixel of the bitmap to simply set the alpha value for that pixel to 0.2. Is there another way ? cheers Adrian
