i am working in my hybrid D3D9/OpenGL engine and i was thinking of a way i can, when resizing the window, remake the front and back buffers of direct3d, without having to remake all textures and vertex and index buffers? this is done normally in OpenGL , so.. is there any way to do that in Direct3D?

You should be able to create a new render target, and use IDirect3DDevice9::SetRenderTarget() to set it as the current render target. I'm not actually sure if that'll do though, I usually just make my D3D windowed mode apps non-resizeable.

Remember you'll also have to change your projection matrix.
