Question with shadows

Is there code or something I can add to my shadow script to make it render shadows smoothly? The problem I have is some of the shadows look really blocky and rough on the edges. But some shadows edges are smooth and clean. Here's a pic to better describe what I mean. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f297/AaronF265/des01.jpg Any thoughts?

Shadow mapping suffers from that particular problem.

You will either need to increase the size of the textures being used to generate the shadow maps, or you will need to shrink the size of the view frustum created to hold that object.
