Alternate landscapes
I know I''ve been asking alot of questions lately but...
Anyone know how they do those bad @$$ landscapes in games like Tribes 1/2? It''s not just a hightmap? Is it?

They use some form of continuous level of detail. Look into ROAM and quadtree''s to learn how to do it.

Tribes 1 uses quadtrees (dunno about tribes 2)
So it''s heightmaps for tribes 1 (same, I dunno about tribes 2, looks similar though)
