If you mean D3DCAPS8.MaxPrimitiveCount, this number is reported by the driver and there''s nothing you can do to change it.

It only refers to a single call of DrawPrimitive() though, so you can have way more polygons than this in your scene, but you have to send them for processing in groups of MaxPrimitiveCount size.
