What to download for the partial of dx8 sdk for c++?
i went to the MSDN and am in the process of downloading the DX8.0 sdk, but only the partial one(s) for c++. Now i would like to know what i am not getting in the partial version that i would get in the full version and whether or not they are necessary (or extremely helpful) components. I know i am missing something since their is a 100 meg difference in the two DLs (its still a 70meg dif even without the basic visual basic stuff).
also: they say the following at their site and i was wondering if those are the runtimes i get when installing games that require dx8, if not where could i get them?
Note: You will need to install the DirectX 8.0 Developer Runtime in order to run the executables or compile any developed applications within this SDK.
1. Correct me if i''m wrong, but i think you''re missing the DirectMusicProducer app + demo as well as the runtime libraries.
You can download them seperatly at MSDN.
2. The runtime libraries you get when you install a game that requires DX8 are (or at least should be) the retail versions. But i remember reading that the Developer Runtime version allows you to switch between runtime and debug dlls.
