Why is it that when I blit alpha blits (based on non-mmx assembly code) on my GeForce card I get a major decrease in performance, around 30FPS, and on a crappy P2/300 laptop with a 2MB S3 chip I get around 50FPS? (The FPS without alpha runs at 82FPS) Ive tried to use a sysmem backbuffer so the alpha is done in sysmem, with even worse results! Ive also tried to put all surfaces into vidmem (10FPS). Heeelllpp?

lol, Buster that was soooo mean

In my opinion, it can only be because S3 makes better chip than nVidia. C''mon, 25 millions polys/sec, that''s a cheap score.

Otherwise, you can try disabling the disk defragmenter on your desktop computer before running your program.
