I am a novice game programmer. I was trying to round-up the various Bitmap Font formats used in games. Here are a few that I could find: - SFont : http://www.linux-games.com/sfont/ - BFont : http://www.cs.unibo.it/~dbilli/bfont/bfont.html - GapiDraw : http://www.develant.com/docs/gapidraw/350/gapibitmapfont-frame.htm - HGE : http://hge.relishgames.com/doc/index.html?hgefont_description.html Which of these formats is widely used in Games? Do experienced programmers use TTF fonts? I would love to hear your personal experiences with Fonts, in Games. Thanx, Nishant.

Also, take a look at the cross platform game library SDL (Simple Direct Media Layer). It is suitable for beginners and powerful enough to serve as a base for Linux ports of AAA titles like Call to Power or Unreal Tournament.
