I am trying to run some sample programs from DirectX 10 with vsnet 2005. And this error pops out. -------------------------------------------------------------- Could not initialize Direct3D 10. This application requires a Direct3D 10 class device (hardware or reference rasterizer) running on the WIndows Vista (or later). -------------------------------------------------------------- What should I do to solve this problem? Sounds like something to do with window vista, Right? Advices please. Thank you.

In the previous versions of DX you had to enable the reference rasterizer manually. I doubt that you have DX10 compliant HW.

DX10 only works on Vista, futhermore you need to use the reference device as currently no DX10 hardware is publically available (of course if you don't have Vista this doesn't really matter as it won't run anyway).
