It is the best game ever. Due to this me and Daedalus have just started Hot-seat-playing it and we have already discovered new stuff on the first island. I dunno how many times we have completed it between us.
The music still gives me the shivers.

OpenTTD is a clone of the Microprose game "Transport Tycoon Deluxe", a popular game originally written by Chris Sawyer. It attempts to mimic the original game as closely as possible while extending it with new features.
Its sucked me right in, but more to the point, it will certainly run on the hardware you described. The only downside is you need the graphics files from the origional, which I am sure you can easily find.
