I've not heard anything about a specific release date for the April SDK. If it follows the usual pattern then it'll be out later this week or next week.

As for MDX2 - I'm pretty sure it'll appear in the same form it did for the February release. Probably a newer build, but still a beta. Check out the recent XNA Framework announcements for the long-term future of the component.

As you've probably seen in the beta newsgroups the April SDK proably won't have much in the way of updates for MDX 2.0 now that XNA framework is in progress and MDX is now part of it

"For those of you who don't look at the "Announcement" newsgroup, you should
do that as well. In doing so, you'll find the long write up from our PM
regarding MDX2, why it will still be released in beta form for the April SDK
(and beyond), and why you're not going to see some of the issues that still
exist in the current implementation addressed in this beta." (Tom Miller)

Hi Zman,
so the situation is a bit complex.
I expose my problem:
I'm coming to realize a project in MDX.
I need Mesh, SkinMesh, Effect and Input (probably also audio).
The last SDK have a problem with SkinMesh, so I can't load animation from file x
in the usual way.
Probably it'will required some month.
What do you suggest?
Use MDX1.1, use MDX2.0 or wait for XNA framework?
I would like to use MDX2.0 but the situation has changed and I can't understand what I should do.
Thx

I don't know the release schedule for the XNA framework but if you need to use those things right now then your only choice is to go back to 1.1. You could contact Tom though his blog (or in the beta newsgroups) and ask when those things will be back in the beta (or XNA framework beta) - or wait a few days to see if its in APril I'm sure its not long now.

These are the riskd of trying to use beta's - you never know what will happen next. When I worked at MS the WIndows 2000 team pulled a feature that we were using at the Release Candidate stage and we were one of their official early adopters. So until something releases you really cannot bet 100% on anything.

thank you.
I'll hope for the best
