Wierd Crashing

Recommended Posts

Hey all, so that Excel VBA script I've been working on forever is finally done and I'm doing testing of all the textboxes and combo boxes. I'm getting something that is really wierd though, I tested as I programmed ofcourse in debug and stepped through the code to make sure everything was working. Now, when I'm not debugging and just using it as if I were a normal user, excel crashes and asks me if I would like to recover my work, so I do the same thing and run it through debug step by step to determine why it is crashing. This is a no go, excel doesn't crash yet again. These types of errors I hate trying to solve because it most likely means I've used code that has issues that you just have to know because its okay to use it it just doesn't run properly all the time. Would anyone know what may be causing this problem? It is VBA code for Excel 2003 the only thing I can currently figure is crashing the program is my optimization code I tried using. Where I go Application.ScreenUpdating = False its either that or I'm copying data to a new spreadsheet and I need to go Worksheets("WORKSHEETNAME").Activate Copy the data, shift some cells down Worksheets("OTHERWORKSHEET").Activate But like I said the code itself works as long as I'm stepping through it. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I have spent alot of time writing this code and wouldn't want to have to chuck it out because I can't fix it.

So, I did some more debugging and I found out it is only drop down boxes that do this. All the textboxes work the same. The funny thing is the drop down boxes and the text boxes both use approximately the same type of code. The changes are saved identically, the only different is with the models it uses codes to generate ID's then copies those ID's to the support tables.

I'm still think it is when I go from one spreadsheet to the other and back again that is crashing the program. I have not yet found any solutions though as to fix this problem.
