rotation in opengl

Probably you'll want to use glRotate*() in some way shape or form, but you'll need to provide much more information than what you have.

What part do you need help with? Assuming the ship is rendered using some OpenGL primitive (such as a quad), you should be able to position and orient it the way you want using glRotate*() and glTranslate*(), like this:
glTranslatef(shipX, shipY, 0.0f);
glRotatef(shipAngle, 0.0f, 0.0f, 1.0f);
RenderShip();
