Fractal Mathematics

I'm looking for a good resource, be it a book or whatever on fractals (the mathematics behind these, not the pretty pictures themselves). I particularly want to learn about fBm to implement an infinite terrain. From what I understand, fBm will return a height value if passed an x and y value as a parameter. Please direct me to a resource where I can find out about the maths and algorithms behind this or perhaps you could explain it yourself. Thanks for your help. :)

Sorry that I can't provide you with any fBm specific links.. but I did post a whole bunch of links pertaining to other types of fractals in the Fractals thread. Check them out, some might be of use to you (especially Plasma fractals, which you can use to generate random landscapes).
