I want to record some shader that I made to avi, mpeg or something. Whats the best way to do this? The only way I can think of is to save fram by fram to a bitmap on disc and then use some editing tool to make a video. Is there any convinient function I can use? Is there any function which convert a bunch of bitmaps to a movie?

Check good old FRAPS out. It does pretty good movie capture.

Looks promising, does it lag much?

Yea, a little bit. However, it is the best one I have seen/used. It is certainly a better option than coding up your own.

If you want totally lag-free, you need some hardware to do it for you. That, or you need to have a demo-playback system in place in your application, and record in non-realtime.
