DDraw & Non-Rectangular Window

I''m just guessing, but I''d just make a blank window, copy the current front buffer and blit whatever part of it your window is covering (so you don''t have a black square around it), and then blit whatever you want over that woth colorkeys. There''s probably a much faster way to do it, but that seems like it would work.
