From what I've read when a full screen DX app looses focus resources like Vertex Buffers and Meshes need to be reset. I made a test aplication in wich I load a mesh. If I Alt - Tab back and forth, the aplication will minimize and resume without any error also the mesh displays just fine. While I have code that takes care of LostDevice situations, I'm not reseting the mesh on a LostDevice occurrence. How can the mesh render without being reset? If you used MeshFlags.Managed when creating your mesh, then it isn't lost when the device is reset.

Managing Resources (msdn)

Using that MeshFlag means the index and vertex buffers the mesh uses are also created in the managed pool.
