Texture to Bitmap

Hi, I'm trying to display a thumbnail of a DirectX Texture in a custom drawn list control. I need to convert a DirectX texture to an HBITMAP for this to work. I've thought about using D3DXSaveTextureToFileInMemory to create a bitmap in memory, but how do I then load the HBITMAP from memory? I can't find any functions to do this, and writing to disk would be an inefficient way of doing it. Or is there a better way to go about it? Thanks
