Automatic polygon count reduction in 3ds Max?

Is there a tool in 3ds max for automaticaly reduce number of polygons? Is there also possible to see the polygon/vertex count in 3ds max? [Edited by - LessBread on April 23, 2006 5:31:03 PM]

There is a modifier that reduces the number of polygons in your mesh, just go "Modifiers > Mesh Editing > Optimize" and adjust the Face Threshold setting to change the optimization ammount. Play with the settings there to try to keep your mesh as much tidy as possible.

You can get a polygon/vertex count of your scene by going to " Utilities > More > Polygon Counter"
there is a tool in the utilities section for showing total tri count, however you can also press 7 and any the count for any selected model with be displayed in the upper lefthand corner of the viewport.
as for redcution, try using the multires modifier, with this you can, by using a slider, reduce the count untill you're happy, and you can use this for groups of models too. goodluck.
