Collision without D3DXMesh?

Is it possible to do raycasting collision in my scene if the entire scene is drawn using a ton of polygons drawn using DrawPrimitive() and DOES NOT use D3DXMesh at all? I'm using C++ Unmanaged DX9 for reference.
