OpenGL can i use DDS file for texture map in my OpenGL application?

some file format(TGA,PNG,BMP,DDS)can used to be texture map.a lot of people said that DDS file is a better choice. but in DX applications. i want to know that can i use it in GL applications? how to use it? thanks~

yes you can use it, you will need to code your own loader or find a library that loads them for you. .dds files are nice as they support a wide range of features e.g. compression, rgba, cubemaps <-I think, 3D textures, and more :)
