As far as C++ development is concerned, is there any advantage for using the VS2005 standard/pro over the express version?

Professional has remote debugging tools which can be useful for debugging fullscreen apps. It also supports mobile development. And Team edition has tons of nifty software development toys. But Express is pretty darn complete.

Compare
Visual C++ 2005 Express also does not allow use of OpenMP extensions, whereas Standard Edition and higher do.
- Express does not support many 3rd party tools such as Visual Assist X.
- Express has different library include requirements than Standard. Less is included by default. You also must download the Platform SDK separately. This is easy, but it can be a pain at first.
- Standard comes with a manual that can be useful. Also TWO GIANT POSTERS !!

The first reason was enough for me to spend ~60$ for the Standard Edition (with a student discount). The posters were also a nice perk ! :P
