[web] CSS Woes
It's been a while since I've posted here last. Well, time has come that my band's website is in great need of a new design and CMS so I've begun work on it. It's been about 6 months since I've done any programming work outside my Java class (in which I just play web sudoku instead of doing any actual work. Horray for independent study!) so I'm a bit rusty in the such.
I'm getting a ton of issues with IE displaying a bunch of things. For one, IE does not seem to like initial dashed borders for some reason. They come up as they should in FireFox but in IE it starts off as a solid border and then once I hover a link it's sort of half and half Here are some screenshots:

Now this in IE 6 before the rollover in the menu
After the rollover in the menu

Now, my second issue is with how the admin panel looks. The alignment of everything is fine in FireFox but again, IE just kills it. Again, more screenshots:

As you can see, there is a lot wrong with it; the legened text isn't showing, everything is aligned to the center, the outer border is not dashed.

Everything on those pages is valid XHTML and CSS and I spent a good amount of effort making sure it all was to W3C standards. I'm sure there is some syntactical error in there and I'm sure it's the way I'm coding the CSS. Maybe alphabetical is a horrible way of doing things. I know a lot of it is the order in which everything is typed but as far as I know everything should work as is. Any type of help at this point is very much appreciated.
I don't have time to look at the code, but I will say that they look (almost) correct in IE7 Beta 2. The padding isn't quite the same, but the border and alignment is correct.
I'm talking about IE 6 though, not IE 7 Beta. According to the W3C stat page, only %0.6 users are using IE 7 Beta.

What do you get when you do a border: dotted instead of a border: dashed?
Still the same problem with IE. On the first load it comes up as solid but then it goes to dotted when minimized then maximized.
Maybe IE doesn't like things like that applied to the body element. What happens if you wrap the page in a div and apply the bottoms and margins to that instead of the body element?
The last Wine upgrade broke my IE's so I can't check myself, sorry.
