What is it called, when you have a background for a 'side-scroller' type game? The type that slowly moves in the background when your character walks through the world. My engine renders 3 background panels end to end, in a continual looping, like old cartoons. I need a site that might have some free ones I can use while working on this part of my game engine. But I have no idea what to search for? Thanks

um... I dunno exactly what you would call it, but I searched on google for game backgrounds and found some stuff off other games, maybe/maybe not useful.

I also found this old gamedev post, hope some of that is useful =)

Parallax scrolling?

Unless, of course, you're talking about just a single background moving behind everything else without any sense of parallax at all... in which case, wouldn't it just be called a scrolling background? To the best of my knowledge there isn't any specific piece of terminology that describes a normal scrolling background.
