Guys, I am trying to write a sahder and to debug that I need some simple .x files, specifically a unit cube centered at origin and a unit sphere with low LOD. I tried creating models using gamespace light, but I don't know how to X-form objects to make them centered at origin. Is there another simple modeling tool (free) OR any other source where I can grab .x files from?

I am 99% sure that blender has the ability to export of .x and there is milkshape (30 day free trial) too which can export to a huge amount of formats [smile]

There are a lot included for the SDK samples. They are installed here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft DirectX SDK (Month year)\Samples\Media

There are also free trials of the big boys:

Maya Trial
3ds Max Trial

These might be a bit overkill, if you just want a cube [wink] But still, they would be very useful to learn a little bit about.
