what tools are you using to create Textures?

Just wondering what tools everyone is using to generate seemless textures.
I have a fair number of images I took with my digial camera and all I want to do is turn them into seemless textures that I can use on my landscape maps.
The GIMP does an okay job at creating seamless textures, and you can get a few photoshop plugins to do the same.
Using the gimp "make seamless" option often makes the texture have odd areas that look bad if the texture repeats often. The best way to make textures seamless is to offset your texture by x/2 and y/2 and do the job manually.
