I just ran a simple single-threaded benchmark on four memory allocators: HeapAlloc on a private heap, HeapAlloc on a low-fragmentation private heap, Hoard, and SMemAlloc (the proprietary allocator used in Blizzard games). I'm posting this, in addition to the informational value, in the hopes of getting ideas for other allocators to benchmark, ways of improving the benchmark, etc. EDIT: Added the explanation for why Hoard was only tested with 2.25 million allocations: it kept crashing a bit beyond that number.
