WMP 11
Though it's set to be officially released (beta wise) wed, there have been a couple leaks on the internet.
I downloaded one and tried out. And I can say that it's a GREAT improvement over 10, at least in the area of library management. 10 was very very slow for large libraries, and searching was prohibitively slow. I can say that 11 is much much faster, and sleeker. It even does search as you type.
And I'll keep using iTunes because WMP's library thing is positively shite. WMP works for movies though...

Which is why I suppose you should ignore that OP's claim of greatly improved library management. Or something.
I never had a problem with WMP10. I'm a simple man, I guess. I'm sure I'll download this... sometime.

The library stuff for 11 beats out iTunes now I think. Especially search.
I use Media Player Classic, a freeware media player that... works.
Key features:
* It works
* It doesn't take up 500 megs of memory for the interface (like every other new media player these days)
* It doesn't crash
* Unlike almost everything else, it can properly index avi and wmv movies that have a corrupted ending
* It's free
* It has no spyware
* It plays QuickTime, Realvideo, and everything else.
* Oh yeah, did I mention that it actually works? Unlike WMP which mysteriously cannot play movies 10% of the time.

I only use Windows Media Player classic for playing DVDs, as the usual bundled software with any drive just sucks.
[edit] I also like how it has no install. It's just an EXE in a ZIP file. You run it, and it works :).

The one problem I do have with WMP10 is that it doesn't play DVDs very well for me (blocky, blurry display with a high brightness and low contrast so that black appears as dark grey), rather than PowerDVD which is sharp and vibrant.
I'm looking forwards to trying WMP11, hopefully it lives up to the improvements it's boasting.
