Hey, I just polished off my first breakout clone, and I was wanting to show it too a friend. He has DirectX 9.0c installed already, so I know that's not causing my issue. Here's the libraries I'm linking to in the project: "d3d9.lib d3dx9.lib dsound.lib dxguid.lib dxerr9.lib winmm.lib dinput8.lib" The error he received was something like "missing d3dx9_30.dll" so I included that in the zip file I sent him.. Still got the same error.. Is that even a plausible solution to the problem? If not, what can I do/am I doing wrong here? Everything works peechy keen on my end. No idea what's going on with his end.

That's where that dll is on my end.. I would assume that's where his DirectX dlls would be residing as well.

You aren't accidentally sending him a debug build are you? You have to send only release builds to anyone who doesn't have the development tools and sdks installed (the dlls they link to are different).

ah ha! That's most likely the issue! Sorry, this is probably the first program I've made worth showing someone :P

edit: still getting the same error with a release build.
